Our Story

The Raisin did it began as a children’s wear label made from vintage and new fabrics and hand screenprinted illustrations with a bold use of colour and pattern. Our happy aesthetic is influenced by old story books and favourite movies, vintage style, the imagination and Australiana.

At the frequent bequest of customers “I wish you made this in my size” the Raisin did it womenswear was born. It started with a Collage Top, named because each one is a collage of 3 contrasting fabrics. To date this item expresses the core look, ethos and process for the Raisin did it with clothing and accessories for both genders, young and old.

Simple forms, careful detailing and professional patternmaking ensure comfort and excellent fit, allowing the fabrics to sing. Quality craftswomanship and durability are paramount, so our treasures can be enjoyed everyday and defy fads for long term enjoyment, perhaps even handed down between relatives and friends.

Everything is produced as a one of a kind or in limited runs, handmade by myself at home or by skilled local makers. Using rare, and reclaimed fabrics makes each piece special and nothing is wasted, with remnants becoming feature panels, or smaller items like bunting or softies and mixed into our signature Patchwork Pillowcases. We aim for each treasure to strike the perfect balance of a hand touch and a professional finish.
